Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we’re awash in the Boss RV-6 Reverb. Boss practically invented digital reverb and the RV-6 is the most powerful yet, with eight world-class reverb algorithms crammed into a normal-sized Boss enclosure. The RV-6 contains three global parameters that work across each algorithm, including a wet-dry mix control, decay time and a handy Tone knob, which helps add back in a little darkness or shave off some unwanted extra treble frequencies. The eight modes cover everything from classic studio staples to ethereal dream machines. Boss’s legendary utility reverb modes make a return, with time-tested Room, Hall, and Plate patches plus realistic spring reverb bounce and drip. The modulate mode generates subtle chorus effects in a hall for subtle movement in the background that doesn't take over your dry signal. Boss also introduced Shimmer in pedal format and it makes a return to form in the RV-6, giving a gentle dusting of octave-up shifting to the reverb decay. With a nod to the RV-3, Boss has also included a mode that marries the reverb to a digital delay for an all-in-one ambient machine. To make the most of these new and improved algorithms, Boss includes an expression pedal input for ambient swells or precise control of the reverb's depth on stage.
