Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com, we're diving into the Silicon Karma Suture from Catalinbread. The Silicon Karma Suture is a dirt box that runs the entire gamut of dirt flavors, from sparkling boost to ripping fuzz textures and white-hot feedback. The Suture is based on one of the most mysterious fuzz boxes in effects history, the Interfax Harmonic Percolator. While the original utilized one germanium transistor to give it a characteristic sag, the new version uses a full clip of silicon to give fans of the circuit some extra bite, which is why so many seek it out in the first place. Catalinbread has spiced up its take on the circuit, by adding two new knobs, Density and Diodes. Density drastically affects the bass response of the circuit, allowing rhythm players to harness the madness of the Suture just as easily as lead players. The clever Diodes control lets players mix the clipping in and out at their leisure. At full, the Diodes control cuts some volume but increases the overall gain by a large margin, while backing the control off opens up the pedal for a powerful shot of gain into your amp's arm. True to its roots, the Silicon Karma Suture cleans up unbelievably well, and this is the key to unlocking many of the pedal's secrets. The guitar's volume control and the pedal's input control are incredibly interactive, allowing for lots of experimentation with stacking and pedal order. And just like all other Catalinbread pedals, the Silicon Karma Suture is made by real people right here in Portland, Oregon.
