UNIQUE CONSTRUCTION
Cole Clark steel string acoustic guitars are the only main stream acoustic to use a Spanish heel or integral neck construction. This means the neck is glued to the face along with the sides and the back so the neck is one piece all the way to the sound hole. On other guitars, the body is made then the neck attached, mostly with a bolt or dove tail join. Due to our method, the sound is unique. Cole Clark also has a carved top and back and uses a ridge system to join the sides to the top and back instead of kerfing.
NATURAL PICKUP
The Cole Clark patented pickup system is the most acoustic sounding pickup available.
Aimed at finding a more natural tone when amplified and eliminating piezo ‘quack’, our pickups comprise different elements that only hear certain frequencies which they’re best equipped to handle. This is done using a combination of 6 loaded piezos under the saddle for bottom end, a face sensor that can be blended in to hear frequencies in the mid to high range (350hz maximum crossover) and a condenser microphone shelved to hear only extreme highs.
TIMBERS
Cole Clark guitars are all solid timber using mostly native Australian tone woods that are largely sustainable.
OTHER FEATURES
Cole Clark certainly has some unique and interesting features that you simply don't find on most acoustic guitars. One cool feature is the "No-Pop" input jack. When unplugging your cable you do not experience the "pop" sound that usually occurs when a cable is unplugged from a live amp or mixer. To achieve this they simply ground out the jack, hense no noise. Cole Clark uses a unique more Spanish style bracing pattern on their tops and lattuce bracing on the back. They use a very thin nitrocellulose finish on the top, back and sides. They also don't use any pore filler. So, each guitar has a more natural look, almost like it doesn't have any finish at all. You may notice small screws near the saddle. THESE ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE! Their function is to hold the piezo as close to the bridge as possible to eliminate the noise typically associated with piezo pickups. However, by far the most interesting feature of these guitars is the electronics. On the 2 Series guitars, like this one, they use a total of 9 pickups. 6 piezos, one under each string, 3 face sensors, and a condensor microphone. This produces a truly astonishing natural sound. These guitars played acoustically sound exactly the same plugged into any amp or PA. These guitars were made to be plugged in. Made and developed for and by players who need their acoustics to be amplified. .
