Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we've taken a trip to Monterey, courtesy of Keeley Electronics. Despite its simple control interface, the Monterey comes jam packed with a full seven different effects, such as fuzz, rotary speaker, vibrato, harmonic trem/wah, auto wah, octave up and octave down. The Monterey is divided into two channels, fuzz and modulation. The fuzz channel is centered around a vintage-style fuzz circuit using new-old-stock Fairchild transistors. A centralized toggle switch splits the modulation section into three sections: Vibe, Wah and Rotary. Each of these sections is controlled by a global set of Rate and Depth controls, as well as an Octave knob. This knob is off at noon, and drops an octave when rolled back, and jumps an octave when turned clockwise. An expression jack on the back accepts your favorite expression pedal, and really opens up the Monterey. In Vibe and Rotary modes, the expression pedal controls the speed, and in Wah mode, the expression pedal turns the Monterey into a full-blown vintage-voiced wah. If that's not enough control for you, a DIP switch array under the hood changes the effect order. And perhaps best of all, each Monterey is hand-made in the USA using the best parts available.
