Stop buying presets... if you can't dial in some usable tones on your device, start there and learn how to use it a bit. Download free stuff and use what's built in. Obviously I think paid stuff can be great but it's never absolutely essential...once you get some good tones... by all means enjoy all the varieties Tone Junkie (and others) have to offer.
