A tube amp that is proud to be made in China! You might think that a tiny 5 watt tube amp like this that is could be pretty bad? I show the amp from the inside and then cover its other features. While it is made down to a price very little suffers. The tones are very good! Think about this... a real tube amp for just around $120 ($100) that can kick the behind of many amp simulators!
And this amp is even made to CE standards and properly marked for the country its being sold in... what a change from the axe-fx III.
So a tiny amp that can travel well, sound great and costs very little - I bet you never guessed something like that could exist? But you would be wrong. And just imagine, turn it on, wait 20 seconds or so and you're playing! I used a TS-9 tube screamer as well as just the amp and it was surprising just how good this amp sounded with the TS in place.
Now I'm not particularly happy in general with this brand after buying pile of junk in the form of a guitar from this brand, but I went in to this review with an open mind - that's he only way to review gear... but you know what, this little amp was great.
Levi McKenzie plays a few chords to show the tones and I played a little at the end of the video. You could question why you might need anything else for some guys!
There's no loop, no standby (not really needed) and no master volume, but its very possible to play as low as 0.1 Watts (that's 1 10th of a watt!) and you won't be waking the baby up anytime soon. Even for the studio you could easily mic up this little amp the HB 5 also known as the Mighty-5th (who knows why) and get some very delicious tube amplifier guitar tones for the price less than the cost of a tyre on a car!
