The TENTH video in this series of making a Warmoth Stratocaster guitar shows how I fitted a Babicz tremolo unit and Fender Tuners - then the neck to the body. But of course it would not be easy (what ever is?) and I experienced a couple of pretty major problems or issues along the way.
I have assembled about five or six of this type of Warmoth guitar before (I still have them!) but none have ever been problematic. In many ways the issues I had are of course self inflicted and I should have known better - but with wanting to 'get the job done' I was hasty and in being like that I created problems.
The Babicz full contact bridge actually did fit fine on the guitar, but the problem created along the way was substantially more difficult - and this lesson should be observed and borne in mind if YOU are going to buy and assemble a Warmoth guitar - or any guitar for that matter.
I bought genuine Fender tuners and have fitted those before, but again along the way because of 'rushing' along came another problem that took me back a further two days of fixing self inflicted issues. Generally the Fender tuners will often go right in to the neck. In this case, I also had a 'showcase' neck and that is something to be careful with. Normally I would select Schaller tuner holes, but the showcase neck was clearly set for other tuners... so I had to ream those to the correct size. Then another problem appeared while demonstrating the drilling of the location holes for the tuners. Watch the video as that unfolds and the aggravation I went through to fix the problem.
One thing is for sure, watch this video and see how I got out of these two scrapes of fitting what should have been simple but ended up costing days and could have turned even worse... genuine tips of how I got out of the mess!
In Part 11 I am creating the electrics including: Fender 69 CS pickups, the Fender Mid Boost controls and installation, generally running through the electrics and fitting the pick guard.
This video series is entirely developed by me personally and is not sponsored in any way. This is NOT a Fender guitar and the logo is fitted for demonstration purposes only. However, most parts ARE genuine Fender parts and the body and neck are both Fender licensed parts from Warmoth. I purchased every single electric guitar part or other shown component or materials just as you would have. I trust that this series of videos will inspire you too to have a go at creating a guitar yourself what ever type it might be. Do study the course as I show it and have a go at making your guitar - it's easy when you are shown how. I have spent considerable time creating these video series at my expense:
