This video compares various momentary switches we install in our pedals: the soft touch momentary switch, the pro momentary switch, and the premium momentary switch.
The soft touch switch works well in applications in which you want a quiet switch with no click. It can be used in normally open or normally closed applications, but it cannot be switched between the two. It is also single throw, which means it cannot be used as a momentary switch in feedback looper applications.
The pro switch has a bit firmer action and a light click, but can be used in polarity tap switch applications, which allow the switch to work as either normally open or closed. It can also be used in double and triple tap applications, or as a momentary switch for feedback loopers.
The premium momentary switch is an ultra high quality switch rated for 200k actuations (most standard switches are rated in the 5k-10k) range. Made in small batches in Japan, the premium momentary switch is extremely high quality and has a smooth action with a light click.
