Weber Fine Acoustic Instruments, now part of the Two Old Hippies group, has been crafting wonderful mandolins and other fretted instruments for nearly 20 years. At this year's NAMM show, company founder Bruce Weber gave us a look at the Octar, an eight-string instrument that combines an octave mandolin with an archtop guitar body. With its deep sound, 15-inch bout, and 3.5-inch rims, the instrument is perfect for mandolin players who want a bigger and bolder tone.
