We’re back with the Splash MK 3 from Crazy Tube Circuits. Today, we’ll be taking an extended look at the exciter algorithm. This option is the most open-ended of the three reverb types in the splash, as it can range from a slight harmonic enhancement to full-on spacial immersion. The extreme settings of the Splash in Exciter mode should be enough to quench the thirst of any reverb fan, as they can add an interesting pad effect to the signal. The decay control in this mode stretches to a hair below infinity for the ultimate in ambience. In addition, the Kill Dry feature, which is accessible by pulling the mix knob out, compounds the spaciousness, by completely killing off the dry signal. This puts the focus squarely on the awesome power of the new Exciter algorithm and lets players use their guitars as a highly-functional pad machine. In this exciter mode, the Excite control governs pre-delay and harmonic filtering, and liberal use of this control can result in some truly unique textures.
