Modtone's inspiration behind the Bohemian is classic British amp tones, and it nails them without much difficulty. Many pedal makers use the term British to refer to either Marshall or Vox-style amps, but the Bohemian bridges both worlds by providing a top-end sheen to a beefy gain structure, which is voiced easily by the Tone knob. Turning the drive knob produces a wide range of Brit tones and sweet spots from beginning to end. Once the voicing is set, the plus-minus toggle keeps things crunchy and tight, or adds a slight boost with a high-mids and treble emphasis for some authentic Top Boost-style tones. Modtone keeps the mids in check on the Bohemian, expertly EQ-ing the internals so the Bohemian never sounds honking or muddy, regardless of pickup type, playing style or amplifier. Like all Modtone stompboxes, the Bohemian is wired for true bypass and housed in a sturdy, road-ready enclosure.
