This is the S2 Vela from PRS Guitars. The gorgeously sculpted USA-built S2 Vela offers a solid mahogany body and set mahogany neck for a warmer, mellower tone at its base, but the accompanying pickups offer their own snappy flavor. The neck pickup is a new PRS S2 Type-D single coil, while the bridge pickup is a S2 Starla Humbucker. The Starla humbucker comes equipped with a push-pull switch on the Tone control for coil splitting, which gives the Vela a whole new palette of punchy tone. A big part of the Vela's unique sound comes from PRS' 25-inch scale length, which provides enough snap and sustain while making big bends comfortable. The Plate-style bridge is unique to PRS guitars and is custom-designed for the Vela, with two brass saddles and 4 adjustment screws that are optimized for brighter resonance and accurate intonation. The S2 Vela is Paul Reed Smith's first foray into offset guitar territory since he started building axes in 1985, and hopefully not his last.
