A multi-platinum-selling artist, his fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, remains one of the top-selling live records of all time, with over 17 million copies sold worldwide. Mark and Peter discuss the new Peter Frampton "Phenix" Inspired Les Paul Custom artist model from the Gibson Custom Shop. The original "Phenix" Les Paul Custom is the iconic guitar that is heard on, and that graced the cover of 1976's classic Frampton Comes Alive! LP. Thought to have been lost in 1980 in a tragic cargo plane crash, it miraculously survived, and over thirty years later, was returned to Peter, and thus earned its Phenix nickname. Peter talks about the history of the original Phenix, reveals the secrets of its wiring and other features, offers his opinions about the latest Phenix recreation from Gibson Custom Shop, and gives a brief playing demonstration of its sound.
