I asked on the forums recently about direct boxes, and decided to try building a couple simple circuits to try out and compare with commercial products and other DIY projects. Will it be worth the time and parts it took to build it? Let's find out!
Errata: YouTube doesn't allow annotations anymore so I can't put it in the video, but my labels of "hot" and "cold" in the schematic are backwards. This might matter to people if it is important to you to maintain a strict polarity relationship among your sources, AND you don't have a polarity switch on your preamp or board, AND you are simultaneously using a microphone and the direct box on the same source.
