C. F. Martin & Co have been inspiring musicians all around the world for nearly two centuries. In September 2019, a few lucky guitarguitar team members were whisked off to Nazareth, Pennsylvania to take an in depth tour of the Martin Factory and got to observe the guitar-making process from raw lumber through to the finished guitar. Dreamy, right?
It's no secret that every Martin guitar is made to an exceptional standard. We were not only blown away by the fascinating history and working of the factory, but the dedication that the team have to their craft is truly inspiring.
We spoke to the people behind the guitars to hear their stories and we were fortunate enough to sit down with Manufacturing Manager, Dave Doll. Dave manages the front-end of the manufacturing process and gives us a unique insight into seeing the raw wood entering the work shop and leaving as a completed body, which we can imagine being a very satisfying process! The Martin brand oozes history and with the release of the D28 Re-Imagined, we wanted to chat with Dave about the process of re-releasing such an iconic acoustic.
Dave also chats about his experience in customer repair, working on guitars from the great Eric Clapton and Marty Stuart, to name a few.
