Not long ago, luthier George Leach, who builds steel-strings, nylon-strings, and archtops in Southern California under the name Phoenix Guitar Co., received a generous billet of Amazon rosewood, large enough to make the backs and sides of two guitars.
To commemorate his 25th anniversary in business, Leach used this precious tonewood to craft a pair of nylon-strings—an OM-sized crossover and a more traditional model called the Jazz Classical—treating each to his fanciest structural and cosmetic options
