The original GT-100 was revolutionary at the time and this new Boss GX-100 is set to create a massive effect in the affordable effects and amplifier simulations market. Firstly, its quite affordable, it is made to a very high standard, it IS a standard itself and where other units often fail for one reason or another the fact is that generally Boss and Roland have got this right from the start. It's a long review but well worth the time to see one of the best low cost pedals out there right now - and it sounds great!
In this demo video review I show you the unboxing, the inside of the unit and discuss the overall quality of the unit (as well as show it), I discuss the I/O at the back of the effects unit and pedal, I confirm the legal standards, I show the overall operation from above and close up.
Later I cover the Tone Studio editor/librarian and connect to tone central to download some presets or 'live sets' if you prefer. Lastly I cover the IR software and show it in use.
I include some playing (really just a bit of jamming) using four different presets - some modified and some not, and the last in the first music uses a different IR just to show it.
In this video review I cover many aspects of the effects unit and even how to easily use the device... if you have the slightest interest in really good effects, amp sim and IR device then this is it - it slams the competition in many ways through design. Find out what score I gave this boss gx 100 and why.
I purchased the device ( boss gx100 ) with my own money and the review is entirely financed by me for your pleasure. The review is entirely unbiased.
NOTE: I did not use ANY amplifier for the playing - it was all direct from the GX 100 in stereo out... direct in to my recording desk and from the first track for the last guitar I used a different IR that was available free on the internet. So the playing tones are generally as they come with a few little tweaks but nothing major - a far cry from when I originally reviewed the Boss GT-1000 in its early release period.
I have spent considerable time creating this video entirely at my own expense. Its better than a valeton gp 200 for sure. Bought from PMT in the UK and not Andertons.
Check my reviews on the line 6 pod go and the MX5 too from the links above - you might be shocked or surprised about my findings.
Apologies for the audio on the voice in this video as that was because of a microphone issue and I don't have another two days to redo the audio right now.
