Guthrie Govan Aristocrats - Sequence Lick - Guitar Lesson - Part 2 of 2 - Guitar Instruction and Breakdown
In this lesson we bring you yet another awesome Guthrie Govan guitar lick. This is actually more of a concept on how to break up scales.
We have had a lot of emails asking how to play scale licks and runs without sounding like you are just running up and down scales. Well to help demonstrate that topic ... there is no better player to draw from then Guthrie Govan. In this lesson we will use a sequence that Guthrie plays during the Aristocrats - BOING, We'll do it live DVD.
You can hear Guthrie play this idea himself it you go to this link:

The lick starts at around 3:51
And make sure to help support the guys that bring you this amazing music that we learn so much from by picking up a copy of this awesome Live DVD ... just click this link to go to their web store ...

We hope this shines a little light on the subject and at least begin to help anyone struggling with the concept of playing fast licks while trying not to just sound like they are running up and down scales or arpeggios.
As we've stated in earlier Guthrie Govan lessons that we've presented, I'm sure if you are checking out this lesson ... it means you are familiar with Guthrie Govan. So I won't dive into too much description about this guitar genius and what he's all about. But if you do like him please check out our "Guthrie Govan" playlist on our channel at the following link ...

... it is filled with lessons breaking down many of his solos, licks and songs.
And if you are interested in hearing some amazing players that Guthrie and many other great players have quoted as influences ... just do a search for players such as Larry Carlton, Scott Henderson, Michael Landau, Allen Hinds, Dann Huff, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Frank Gambale, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page. And then there all the country and straight ahead jazz players like ... Danny Gatton, Albert Lee, Jerry Donahue, Brent Mason, Chet Atkins, Joe Pass, Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, George Benson and Wes Montgomery ... to name just a few.
I hope you enjoy this lesson ...
