Hey guys! I hope everybody is doing well under these trying circumstances. While I'm still working on perceiving this as a gilded opportunity rather than a wretched inconvenience, I thought I'd record some mini lessons to keep both y'all and myself busy and more importantly, inspired.
I'm also set up to do FaceTime or Skype lessons, if you want to dive deeper into some of the compositional or improvisational concepts I'll touch on - though I know there are plenty of fish in the sea right now, so choose wisely! 😏
This first part is lifted from "The Great Wave", a tune I performed with my instrumental trio "Cosmic Latte". In an effort to avoid the (un-)artistic autopilot, my creative process for the project was almost entirely conceptual in nature, challenging myself to explore new avenues (to me) or at least try to recontextualize familiar ideas.
