With echoes of Simon & Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile’s ‘You And Me On The Rock’ was a Top 20 hit on its release in 2022. Featuring a classic 1970s-esque singer-songwriteresque acoustic guitar part, it’s a great, easy-to-master song with some ear-grabbing chord changes.
In this easy-to-follow lesson video, Elixir Strings artist Mandy Rowden breaks down the intro of the song, starting with the open C# tuning that gives ‘You And Me..’ its lush ringing tonality. Although the changes come round fairly quickly, the shapes used for the song are easy to learn, so taking things slowly and building up to speed is the way to go!
