Analogman's King of Tone overdrive! Is the KOT pedal the King? 3 years + waiting time. Is this an investment for the future? I check out this pedal inside and out and show some of the tones available to guitarists. And later discuss the investment considerations.

Sometimes in the guitar world there are simply some things that for one reason or another everyone wants one... and it's the case with Analog Man's King of Tone drive pedal. It's a dual channel unit that has that 'something' that guitarists crave for; it's made the KOT pedal a legend in the pedals market for years.
So Can I buy one? Well not exactly... at least for now. At the time of this review (October 2020) I had waited three years and three months since ordering mine on the analogman website ( http://www.analogman.com/ ). Originally quoted just two years (just!) that ended up as 1/3 longer at three years and three months waiting.
And in the second user market, these pedals sell for more than you can buy one from analogman directly brand new but then you would generally bypass the waiting times.
But how does the King of Tone sound? or are guitarists just buying to make money or later sell them when they don't like the tones? I show you everything about the pedal, the inside and out review and discuss things like waiting times, tones, accessories, options available and I even give the pedal a score out of ten.
I take the King of Tone dual overdrive pedal for a ride and show how it sounded to me through a Marshall SC20 (JCM800) and with a telecaster guitar with powerful pickups on there. The KOT pedal gives a boost that can be from really laid back, through good crunch tones and on to that singing lead guitar that many guys crave but can't always achieve. Bear in mind that this IS a Telecaster and its more toppy than say a Les Paul would be.
Overall a wonderful pedal that can offer up tones that are harder to achieve without the pedal. The intermediate settings offered the best sort of medium distortion singing tones that were suitable for this particular played track, which by the way I wrote back in 1983 a track called Future/Fast and dedicated to Mark Evans wherever he is.
Visit http://www.tonymckenzie.com for other non YouTube reviews of guitars, amps and other guitar related gear, and of course my YouTube channel with at least 320+ reviews online since 2009! I bought this pedal directly from Analog Man and his company and NOTHING here is a paid for review.
The manufacturers have had no input whatsoever. My opinions are that of any ordinary guy buying one of these products and concluding what I did - completely unbiased. Here you get a review that will always 'tell it the way it is' about all reviewed equipment.
