The Les Paul™ Special is part of Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson Collection and is designed to recreate the sound of the rare single cutaway 1950s-era Gibson Les Paul Special. Featuring a mahogany body with a beautiful reproduction of the iconic TV Yellow finish and powered by critically acclaimed P-90 PRO™ soapbar single-coil pickups and CTS® electronics.
Dating back to the 50s, now remade into an affordable masterpiece that screams character with its P-90 pickups, the Epiphone Les Paul Special is a no-frills, but extremely versatile electric guitar that can do rock, blues, punk and any genre you want to throw at it.
Watch as Aljon plays us through the two P-90 Pro pickups controlled via a three-way toggle switch and modeled after the unmistakeable Gibson P-90 soapbar pickups providing a rich, fat single-coil sound, easily sculpted to your tonal liking thanks to CTS potentiometers for volume and tone.
The Les Paul Special sports a beefy early 50s neck, which feels weighty in your hand, enhances the vintage feel of the guitar and gives you plenty of surface to work with when you’re shredding or busting out power chords. The set neck, a feature uncommon at this price point, along with a warm, punchy mahogany body, gives this guitar an undeniable sustain and sonic prowess that has been embraced by punk guitarists, rock guitarists and those who just want a hard-working workhorse guitar that lets the tone do the talking.
As a bonus, Aljon gives us a brief history of the TV Yellow Les Paul guitar finish and why they were invented - very interesting trivia indeed!
