Watch as Dinesh walks us through the incredible sounds of the Epiphone Hummingbird Studio Tenor Ukulele - modelled on one of the best and most iconic acoustic guitars of all time - the Gibson Hummingbird. In this demo and review, Dinesh shows us the key features, specs and sounds within - chances are this little ukulele will surprise you with how loud it is!
The Hummingbird™ Studio Tenor Ukulele (tuned GCEA) is Epiphone's first tenor Uke in over half a century. It features a classic square shoulder acoustic guitar body style with white and black binding on the top, body, and fingerboard. The tortoise-styled pickguard has an early 60s Hummingbird graphic design and the top tonewood is solid Sitka spruce, which will grow to become even richer sounding the longer you own it and play it The body and neck are made from mahogany providing that warm tonality which adds a touch of bass.
The neck has a SlimTaper™ C-profile, a 17" scale length, 19 frets, and a granadillo fretboard which makes learning to play the ukulele so much easier. The reverse belly bridge is also made from granadillo, and the Hummingbird Studio Tenor Ukulele is set up at the factory in standard GCEA tuning with a high G. The traditional Epiphone Sloped Dovewing headstock has both the Epiphone and classic Crown inlay in pearloid and thanks to the under saddle Piezo Film pickup, the Hummingbird Studio Tenor Ukulele can be plugged into any PA or amp and gigged or recorded with easily making it not only one of the best ukuleles for beginners, but easily one of the best professional and intermediate ukuleles. The ¼" output jack is rim mounted for ease of use and the Hummingbird Studio Tenor Ukulele has Premium Open-Back machine heads with a 14:1 turning ratio for tuning stability. This is also the perfect travel ukulele as a gig bag is included to keep it safe in transit.
