Quick test of a USB guitar cable with the iPad. This is actually showing that this type of cable doesn't quite work. It works for recording but not for live playback. I said in the video I thought this was because the iPad was wanting to send audio back out the cable for output. It may have been, but I have another video showing how the rocksmith cable (which is also just input) works with the iPad headphone output or built in speakers:
