When designing TheGigRig G3 pedalboard switcher controller we wanted to include an awesome sounding programmable PRE EFFECTS LOOP GAIN control. This can act as a buffer (an amazing buffer btw), an attenuator or a signal booster going into you effects. Works brilliantly with overdrive pedals and other gain boxes as you can control the amount of distortion you get by controlling the input signal.
You can also control the pre gain with an expression pedal acting's a pre effects volume pedal
