You probably know that many guitar-makers build instruments in Mexico. But what you probably don’t know is the level of craftsmanship, attention to detail and passion that goes into the guitars that Taylor makes in our factory in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. Just 45 minutes away from our headquarters and primary factory in El Cajon, California—just outside of San Diego—the Tecate factory boasts world-class levels of manufacturing sophistication, but more importantly, it’s operated by skilled, talented craftspeople who are crucial not just for building our Baby, GS Mini, Academy, 100 and 200 Series guitars, but also parts and components of the all-solid-wood models we build in the U.S. Our proximity to the Tecate factory means that engineers, wood specialists and other staff are traveling back and forth between the two sites virtually every day, facilitating a true exchange of knowledge that elevates everything we do. Watch the video to learn more about how each and every Taylor guitar is built with true world-class craftsmanship, whether it’s made in California or Tecate.
