In a continuing effort to expose the underrepresented "'Zilla" half of the SolidGoldFX Funkzilla, Jamie Wolfert takes this inspiring, multifaceted purple filter box into the shoegaze zone, implementing its off-kilter rhythmic undulations to add otherworldly motion and texture to an octave-based melodic line. With help from the Imperial fuzz and Electroman II delay, the Funkzilla turns a basic melody into a stuttering, uniquely vocal accompaniment to a dreamy open chord sequence. A fast tremolo picking section alters the response significantly, turning its stutters into fast wah-like sweeps. The SolidGoldFX Beta MKII bass preamp also has a starring role in this video, lending thick germanium grunt to not only bass, but also a Telecaster bridge pickup handling rhythm guitar duties.
