The Shadow Hills Industries Mono GAMA is an impressive 500 Series mic pre with a Jensen input transformer and a knob that allows you to select from three different output transformer settings. The output options include Nickel (Low distortion), Discrete (Transformerless), and Steel (Colored with 1dB boost).
For 2023, the Texas-based brand has introduced a new version of the preamp with a copper faceplate and an additional output transformer setting called Stack. The Stack setting actually combines the Nickel and Steel transformers together to give engineers greater saturation, more distortion, and color.
Watch our new video to check out the Shadow Hills Industries Mono GAMA Copper in action and hear all four settings used in various ways.
*Correction: The mysterious Shadow Hills Industries is not located in California. They are said to work out of a secret base somewhere in Texas now.
