Tone Hungry Hunger Bender - Telecaster - Orange TH30 - RIGRIGRIG demo
Heyho!
How many times do you see a Tone Bender based fuzz pedal? I bet there's too many to recall. Me honestly lucky enough to get a grip on this Hunger Bender from Tone Hungry effects. I haven't tried the original Tone Bender fuzz so I cannot comment further about how close the Hunger Bender prior to the original one.
BUT, how about we scrap all those 'based on' things and start to think about the Hunger Bender itself? At first as I plug my Telecaster through my Orange TH30 I sense something very traditional tone from the Hunger Bender. It's bright but not brittle and fat without getting mushy. The gain is still intact even in the zero position and the tone knob is handy to sculpt the high mid or boost the low mid freq a bit. The tone is matched with my Telecaster even with the tone all the way up it doesn't sounds ice picky like most fuzz pedal. It stays warm and full. Really crunchy for rhythm work and fluid and fat for lead playing.
The finish is really cool! It's like a bare metal with acid. I think the Hunger Bender is one of the creamiest and easiest fuzz pedal to play with. Doesn't need funky power supply and sounds great as soon as you step on it. Well this review is a bit biased I guess but what the heck, I love this pedal, end of story.
