This PRS Martin Simpson Private Stock signature model is an entirely original, 100% Paul Reed Smith creation. Rather than capitalizing on a popular design or simply tweaking a few features of a style that happens to be selling right now, the Private Stock team built this one from the ground up. The world's top luthiers, plenty of tools and tone wood, and feedback from one of the best acoustic players on the planet. That's it.

The top is Adirondack Spruce, which provides great projection and clarity. But it's the Brazilian Rosewood sides and back that really set this one apart. People go nuts for what just a Brazilian Rosewood bridge or fretboard does to the tone. Crafting the entire body from this prized wood gives the sound incredible depth, complexity and richness. The neck is mahogany, and it features an ebony fretboard with green abalone bird inlays. The nut width is perfect. At 1.81", it's right in that fingerpicking sweet spot: big enough so you don't bump into yourself, but not so big that stretches are difficult.

What's under the hood of this guitar is just as important as all of that gorgeous wood on the outside. PRS's unique bracing technique, influenced heavily by classical designs, doesn't restrict the top's vibrations. Ever wonder how a classical guitar can fill an entire performance hall with sound? Paul's figured it out and dialed it in, so this guitar has incredible projection and strength. The high-modulus carbon fiber truss rod will keep that neck exactly where it needs to be. It's set up perfectly now, and we don't imagine that'll change. The pickup system translates everything honestly, and it's super low-profile and unintrusive. There's one volume knob in the sound hole and no holes cut into the sides.
