Swee Lee presents:
Gibson Peter Frampton Phenix 1954 Les Paul Custom
Peter Frampton first hit the musical headlines when his live album "Frampton Comes Alive!" was released in 1976. It spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Billboard charts, and ended up becoming one of the best-selling live albums ever, with over 11 million copies sold worldwide. Although the album was famous for Frampton's use of the "Talk Box" on tracks like "Show me the Way", it was the guitar that was revealed on the inside sleeve (this was 1976, folks—when people still bought huge, shelf-filling albums) that got a lot of attention. It was a black, 3-pickup Les Paul Custom. A present from a fan, it was a reconditioned 1954 model that was played by Peter Frampton from 1970 up until it was presumed lost in a cargo plane crash in Venezuela in 1980. Remarkably, it was returned to Frampton in 2012. And Gibson has produced a guitar that's the spitting image of the original. There are only 35 of these remarkable instruments available worldwide, so if you'd like to own one of them, now's your chance.
