An acoustic kit can give the power and volume needed for a gig – but sometimes, additional sounds are needed for the music to sound right, even as it was recorded. Take a band like Rudimental, whose music is heavily electronic. Acoustic drums are an important feature of the sound, but so too are the electronically produced sounds and samples.

Simply by adding electronic drums pads and a Roland drum module, drummer Beanie Bhebhe is able to perform with the exact drum sounds that Rudimental produced for the album, while acoustic drums provide the raw power and the important look for the stage. Beanie gave exclusive access to Roland at a live show in London to walk through his Roland Hybrid Drums setup.
