Hey Fellas so just before Christmas I won an eBay auction for a FENDER EXCELSIOR Pawnshop series.
I had been wanting a recording amp for at home and looking for that kinda lo-fi growl that works perfectly with Dirty Throaty blues.
The idea is to run a dirty amp alongside the Clean Vibroverb and start exploring dual amp tones a little more.
With that in mind I had been waiting for one to come along at the right price and this listing popped up, it was listed "comes with free rattle" and to be fair that hadn't bothered me as I have read lots of info about how they carry this metal on metal tone/Buzz. So playing the amp its not that bad and in a weird way the metallic overtone is a little charming but when recording its pretty prominent in the mix, so before I dive DEEP down this FIX it rabbit hole I wondered if anyone has had any experience with these amps and there ratle and if and how they fixed it ?
I think it might be interesting if we can get this little thumper up and running properly.
This amp lies somewhere Tonally in-between a tweed tone and silver-tone, it really comes to life when you start getting past 12 on the volume and is honestly a shed load of tone.
This video is just a quick TONE upload but we are defo going to get into this one more in the new year!
IF ANYONE HAS ANY EXPERIENCE PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT
