In Lucius, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe — inspired by stacked vocals on recordings from Phil Spector to Elliot Smith — have brought their two complimentary voices together to create one unified sound. Their creative partnership as a vocal duo has led them to stages with Roger Waters, Mavis Staples and Harry Styles, and their artful performances receive critical acclaim.
With the microphone as an extension of their sound, we invited them to share the with us some of the models they use to capture the various sonic portraits of their voices. We also chatted about creativity during quarantine, their connection to each other and their community, and we got a glimpse of their new song, "Turn Into Love."
