Hybrid picking combines fingerpicking with the use of a guitar pick. For varied musical passages it allows you to keep your pick in your hands for the entire duration of a song, give chords a plucked (rather than strummed) sound, and blends softer fingerstyle textures with the more percussive picked sound. In this video Nicholas Veinoglou demonstrates the basics of hybrid picking on the acoustic guitar along with some helpful exercises for mastering the technique.
