The much anticipated Kiko Loureiro Ibanez 2014 Guitar Clinic held at Star Performing Arts Centre last Saturday, 26th April 2014, was a huge success!
This collaboration with Ibanez gave us the honour of having the internationally recognised Brazilian heavy metal guitarist Kiko Loureiro here for his first clinic in Singapore. It was such an encouraging response from our Swee Lee customers and fans that we received more sign-ups for the clinic than we can offer!
Kiko started learning the acoustic guitar at 11. Initially only exposed to classical music, Kiko's foray into music led to his discovery of progressive and heavy rock, jazz and fusion. Amazed by the possibilities and fascinated by some artists whose music he came to love, like Scott Henderson, Van Halen, and Black Sabbath, he went on to hone his skills on the electric guitar with that influence.
During the clinic, Kiko wow-ed us with his exceptional technical skills on his signature KIKO100, which he worked closely with Ibanez to produce based on the idea of making something very versatile for different play styles and kinds of music. We were also in awe when he effortlessly demonstrated ways to practice tapping. Besides sharing about himself, the signature KIKO100 and KIKO10P, and guitar techiques, he played some songs from both his solo albums and his band, Angra, as well.
As a sweet treat to his fans, the clinic ended with an autograph and photo session and a chance to grab Kiko's promotional DVDs that he brought over from Brazil -- not available anywhere in Singapore!
