In this video we look at how to record all the speakers of your 4X12 and 2X12 speaker cabinets at the same time using one mic! Compared to standard close miking this technique gives you a natural growling low end and lower mids. The actual position and distance to get a natural and balanced tone can actually very much be given by physics and trigonometry, since we have the information on how the speakers spread or disperse the different frequencies.
I'm using a 1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom and a 2008 Marshall 1974X (just the amp section) through a 1971 Marshall 1960A 4x12 and a 1972 Marshall 1960B 4x12. I'm using a single Shure SM57 for all recordings.
