"Daytona Race Day" features Pedaltrain's Nightlight Distortion pedal. The purpose of this track is to showcase the stackable, musical, nature of Nightlight's gain in a high-energy track.
The drive you are hearing is from the pedal, not the amp. The amp is a Fender Deluxe Reverb with Volume set to 3.
Listen to the double-tracking and thick wall of sound, but notice nothing is lost or muddy. Notes stay clear and focused, chords ring true and the drive does not collapse on itself. Notice that Nightlight is not even close to reaching its limits, with the drive never passing 12 o'clock.
Track Rundown:
1) The first few seconds establishes the clean tone.
2) Nightlight is engaged at the 6 second mark. This tone carries all of the rhythm parts.
Nightlight settings: Level 2 o'clock / Drive 10 o'clock / Tone 2 o'clock
3) At the :33 second mark Nightlight enters again carrying the melody. The melody has a slightly boosted Drive setting, from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock. Nightlight settings: Level 2 o'clock / Drive 12 o'clock / Tone 2 o'clock
About Pedaltrain's new pedals:
“Daylight” is a symmetrical overdrive, on the brighter side (hence the name). It is a pleasantly dynamic, musical, and focused. Notice that as you back off the guitar’s volume pot the pedal cleans up.
“Nightlight” is on the darker side, asymmetrical, a more full-bodied, beefier, distortion sound. Again, this pedal is very dynamic and can play off of your guitar’s volume. It stacks parts really well, makes melodic lines pop, and can make any amp shine.
The pedals can stand alone or work together, sort of like an overlapping pedal Venn diagram. We worked hard to make sure the sounds were musical and usable through the entire sweep of the controls.
