The Bad Cat Jet Black guitar amp is a two-channel, 38-watt mean machine loaded with four EL84 power tubes, three 12AX7 preamp tubes, 3-band EQ, bias-modulated tremolo and reverb. “Our Black Cat amp is typically a smooth-sounding template,” explains Bad Cat CEO and designer Peter Arends, “so what I was going for with the Jet Black was the rougher brother that’s targeted more towards the rock crowd.”
“The Jet Black is such a fun amp to play,” adds Marc Ford (Black Crowes, The Magpie Salute). “It has a pure voice, and it never sounds like it’s choking out. It’s also very open and expressive—you hear all the notes. The Jet Black listens to what you’re doing, and it’s there for whatever you’re doing on the guitar.”
The Bad Cat Jet Black is a road-hardened beast with a cabinet constructed from tough Baltic birch. The combo version includes a 12” Celestion Vintage 30 speaker, and both models (head and combo) are designed for versatility with a buffered effects loop, a line out (for reamping or using IRs), a two-button footswitch (tremolo on/off, channel changing) and a full complement of speaker outputs. Bad Cat amps are designed and built in Southern California.
