If a good-looking, great sounding, FUN, built-with NOS components, skill, integrity and passion, MK1.5 Tone Bender clone is on your radar then I would like to suggest the Van Diemens Analogue Audio Disruptors Thylacine Fuzz. It ticks all of the 'authentic' boxes including and perhaps especially, sound. The transistors in this particular build are reclaimed and as such are pretty rare (I'm very lucky!). Because Richard likes to use reclaimed or NOS stock, there's usually a choice of Philips/Mullard transistors or NKT transistors. Great work, Mr Turner!
From the website:
"Van Diemens' fuzz pedals are based on the classic 2 transistor MK1.5 Tonebenders. These pedals can come with a variety of options, but all are created with 60s NOS or reclaimed germanium transistors and NOS or reclaimed capacitors and resistors. We use either, period correct germanium transistors in OC75s (when available) or a choice of classic 60s germanium transistors that can include OC84s, OC81s, and OC72s. There are also a couple of options for finish colour, LEDs, external nine volt power, on/off battery switches, and tone switching options. Other upgrades include vintage pots, jacks, and perf boards. For more details on those options, check out our Custom Shop page."
