The DD420 has 10 pre-set kits programmed in so you can quickly find a sound to suit any style including rock, funk, jazz and house.
The kit’s frame has an extra arm to the left that holds the hi-hat and drum module and it’s extra durable with a versatile and authentic layout.
This crash is an upgraded pad featuring a choke function – a feature that allows you to dampen the cymbal sound with your hand, something that’s often missing from other beginner sets.
The choke gives you a lot more control over the type of cymbal sound you produce and develops technique useful for acoustic drums.
The heads are made from soft rubber in a tough plastic casing so they’re quiet and sturdy with a natural response that replicates the feel of an acoustic drum set.
There are 40 patterns of varying difficulties that you can play along with - everything from rock and pop to Latin and reggae but if you prefer to create your own kits, there’s 108 individual drum and percussion voices to choose from and a click function will help new players develop better timing and work on practice drills.
Round the back, there’s a range of connectivity options.
A USB port and MIDI output allow you to connect this kit to a computer for recording or to use it as a MIDI controller, opening up huge possibilities for expansion and access to new sounds.
The aux in allows connection of an MP3 player so you can drum along to your favourite tracks and the output can go straight into a drum monitor or amplifier if you want more volume, whilst the headphone jack can be used for silent practice sessions.
Overall this kit offers a great introduction to the world of digital drumming whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced player.
