Tyler Gilmore, AKA BlankFor.ms, showcases the signal flow and powerful EQ and compression on the solid State Logic BiG SiX Professional Desktop Summing Mixer.
In this video, Tyler shares his process of using the BiG SiX as an “analog oasis”, to get away from his computer screen, his DAW and just physically mix things with a more streamlined workflow.
To get started, Tyler routes six stereo stems from Ableton Live into the BiG SiX, utilizing four mono channels and four stereo channels. From there, he utilizes the in-line compressors found on each of the first four channels, as well as the powerful three-band EQ—which is based on the legendary SSL 4000E—found on all channels to expertly tweak the sound and imbue it with the classic SSL "vibe".
As a final step, Tyler turns on the built-in G-Comp Bus Compressor across the entire summed stereo signal, adding a touch of glue and cohesiveness to his production.
