Known for her dedicated activism and boundary-pushing artistry, Kiran Gandhi (best recognized as Madame Gandhi) has shaped her career as both a percussionist and songwriter through her own genre-bending “electro-feminist music.” Madame Gandhi's uplifting rhythms have lead to collaborations with Lizzo, TV on the Radio, as well as touring with M.I.A., Thievery Corporation, and most recently Oprah on her 2020 Vision Stadium Tour.
From her studio in Los Angeles we caught up with Madame Gandhi about her drum and MIDI set-up, her utilization of sensory percussion, and how she sees the future of the industry shifting to support the changing narrative of artists and their message.
