The acoustic guitar offers all sorts of possibilities for soloists to build up full arrangements of tunes, combining different techniques to cover bass, harmony, and melody parts. Even in standard tuning, a creative approach can yield great results.
In this short video tutorial, Elixir® Strings artist Calum Graham demonstrates part of his tune Journey of Love from his Sympatheia album. The section features myriad techniques including flamenco-inspired raked rhythms, left-hand hammer ons and right-hand “harp harmonics”. There are some advanced parts going on in here, so take your time to get them perfect before building up to tempo!
Explaining why he’s a fan of Elixir Strings on his acoustic guitars, Calum says, “Elixir Strings are the only strings I’ve played that retain their tone throughout multiple Shows and frequent tuning changes.”
