Introducing the new Scarlett Gen 4 USB audio interface range: Scarlett Solo, Scarlett 2i2 and Scarlett 4i4. In this video, hosted by Focusrite Product Specialist Shanda Nunez, we'll take you through each of the new interfaces in the line-up, reviewing all of the new features and key specifications, such as Auto Gain and Clip Safe on the 2i2 and 4i4 models, as well as demonstrating the new AIR mode updates.
Each of the three models boast a number of improvements and upgrades from their prior generation, including, perhaps most notably, converters from Focusrite's flagship RedNet family, offering 120dB of dynamic range. The 4th gen line-up also includes two studio bundles (Solo Studio Pack, 2i2 Studio Pack), which include Focusrite's CM25 MkIII studio condenser mic and their closed-back SH-450 headphones.
The perfect interface choice for recording singer-songwriters, the ultra-compact Scarlett Solo boasts a single microphone preamp, Hi-Z instrument input, headphone output, and a pair of line-level 1/4 TRS outputs for hooking up your monitors of choice. Additionally, the re-engineered Air mode offers the original analog Presence mode as well as a new DSP-based Harmonic Drive mode for additional sonic options.
If you're looking for additional I/O, the always-popular 2i2 model doubles the input count, while adding switchable line-level/Hi-Z connectivity (for directly connecting your guitar or bass). The 2i2 also features new remote controlled preamps and new user-friendly features like Clip Safe and Auto Gain, which ensure that your recording levels are optimized to capture the cleanest signals. For users that need even more connectivity, Focusrite offers the 4i4, which adds two more line-level inputs, an additional pair of line-level outputs and MIDI I/O.
The re-engineered preamps in the 2i2 and 4i4 models offer an impressive 69dB of gain, perfect for even the most demanding broadcast dynamic mics. Additionally, both models also include the re-engineered AIR mode.
For users that are new to Focusrite, the included Easy Start tool will guide them through setup, while Focusrite's Hitmaker software bundle includes a range of popular and powerful plug-ins for use in their favorite DAW. Additionally, each interface comes with a copy of Ableton Live Lite and a three-month subscription to Avid's popular Pro Tools Artist.
