My take:
The Pettyjohn Iron MKII is a full-featured, low to medium gain American-voiced overdrive. With it's extended low end, sparkly top, and just-scooped-enough midrange, it just made me want to play big rock chords all day. It definitely occupies the classic "Blackface" territory really well, without being a total homage. All the Pettyjohn pedals still sound like "Pettyjohn pedals" which I would say is a very hi-fi, weighty, expensive sound. I always trust I'm going to get something great out of these pedals, and I have yet to be disappointed. I especially found the clean blend to be really useful in retaining dynamics and pick attack. A great pedal! See below for everything new in MKII, and be sure to also check out my Iron MKI vs MKII video, linked here: https://youtu.be/yJQOFbN8Lx4
