The Moog Muse merges the legendary synthesizer company’s classic analog circuits with intuitive and flexible digital controls. The 8-voice polyphonic synth includes oscillators derived from the Minimoog Voyager, two LFOs with user-customizable waveshapes (along with a dedicated pitch LFO), Diffusion Delay (inspired by old-school digital rack units), 64-step sequencer, arpeggiator, chord memory, bi-timbrality (two independent timbres per patch can be stacked or split across the keyboard), 256 patches across 16 banks with 32 user slots and a 61-key, semi-weighted Fatar keybed with velocity and aftertouch. The Muse encapsulates all of the vibe and history of modular synth pioneer Robert Moog while simultaneously providing modern synth artists with powerful creative tools.
“My first impressions of Moog synthesizers when I began was they had a very human and personal sound—something that could fill my body or an entire room,” says composer, educator and “sonic sorceress” Lisa Bella Donna. “My intentions for sound design with the Moog Muse range from long, opening envelopes of orchestral sounds and pads, to beautiful glistening bells, to really wild modulations in a more avant-garde way. To that end, one of my favorite patches I designed for the Muse is called Soft Orchestra. It’s a very emotive patch you can use for film scores that spreads things out in a beautiful and musically dramatic way.”
