Eric Clapton’s long and storied career has resulted in a huge number of classic songs, with 1992’s Tears in Heaven one of his biggest-selling singles. Appearing on the soundtrack for the film Rush and written following the death of his son Conor in 1991, Tears in Heaven is a beautiful, moving song and powerful in its simplicity.
In this electric guitar lesson video, Elixir Strings artist Shannon Lauren Callihan shows you her arrangement of the song, which involves a chordal approach underneath parts of the distinctive melody. It might be a classic, but it’s not overly complicated, so even relative beginners will be able to follow along and learn the parts of her arrangement with ease.
Explaining why she’s such a fan of Elixir Strings on both his electric and acoustic guitars, Shannon says, “I've played Elixir Strings from the beginning! They sound great and last a long time.”
