You know about the Gibson vs Dean Lawsuit unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple weeks in the guitar world. I have been thinking about it for about a week and it has changed my perception of Gibson guitars, Dean guitars and even other guitar manufacturers.
I have planned on selling about 10 of my lower end guitars and buying an expensive guitar. My first choice was a Gibson Les Paul Standard, followed by an American Fender Telecaster and an American Paul Reed Smith. What is interesting is that after I processed the lawsuit by Gibson against Dean, my perception of the quality of Dean Guitars went up. Now I find myself putting Dean Guitars in the same category at Gibson, Fender and PRS. These are the unintended consequences of the lawsuit from my experience.
In this video, I speak from the consumer's perspective, which I am. I am not a lawyer, but I have a friend that is a Patent lawyer and has agreed to let me interview him on this case. So stay tuned for that video next week.
