HTJ-Works are a Japanese company producing top-shelf tone generators like these two fine pedals. The Valve Crystal preamp uses a proper tube at high voltage to recreate the front end of a certain JM Signature TW amp. It's a very smooth ride and is designed and meant to be run into a 6L6 power amp or simulator, hence the absence of a footswitch which is replaced with an actual on/off switch on the rear face of the pedal.
The Hide & Seek Dual Overdrive makes no bones about being an emulation of two great overdrives - Klon and TS10. You can run them independently or together in any order. The K side features selectable Ge/Si clipping as well. It's a good choice to work with the Valve Crystal preamp, for sure. Together they have 'that' sound that I was quite entranced by for several hours this morning before I finally hit the record buttons to capture this video.
I'll post chatty videos about these two later on. For now, however, I think the tones speak for themselves.
